On a romantic getaway to Iceland, a young American couple wake up one morning to discover everyone on earth has disappeared. Their struggle to survive and to reconcile the mysterious event lead them to reconsider everything they know about themselves and the world.
bokeh /boʊkə/ (boke-uh) noun
The visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, esp. as rendered by a particular lens.
BOKEH, a science fiction drama, stars Maika Monroe (Labor Day, At Any Price, The Bling Ring) and Matt O’Leary (Eden, The Lone Ranger, Brick). Shot entirely in Iceland, this meditative, delicate fable is about the values of life and living. The couple in this story are forced to think about the brevity of life on the planet and thus have a harder time making better choices. The story balances the universal theme of love while displaying the loneliness that exists with being in love.
Bokeh is the blur, the out of focus part of the photo. In life, we choose what we focus on and what we obscure. We wanted to tell a story of two people who continue to change their priorities, their ideals, their focus based on an altered world. They are defined not just by what they focus on, but what they choose to blur.
In addition to showcasing and sharing the cinematic results of our endeavors, we are sharing the making of process, from preproduction through postproduction and beyond. We've learned a lot from the content of others and will pay that concept forward. If you've ever wondered what it's like to make a first independent feature film (good and bad,) making a feature overseas on a small budget or one of the hundred of other topics then visit our blog for updates.
If you want to be kept in the loop during the making of Bokeh, please send us your email address.
